The Minnesota Vikings waste a brilliant defensive performance and faceplant 0 to 26 at the Seattle Seahawks.

Minnesota’s losing streak continues and the Vikings fall 26-0 at the Seattle Seahawks in Week 13. This marks the Vikings first shutout loss since 2007.

Brian Flores and his defense were ready for old friend Sam Darnold and, in one of the best defensive performances of the season, held the Seattle defense in check most of the game. They pressured, sacked, and swatted like an elite defense and it was beautiful. Unfortunately, they got no help from the Vikings’ offense.

Kevin O'Connell's Minnesota Vikings record their first shutout loss since 2007.

Rookie quarterback Max Brosmer started for JJ McCarthy who was in concussion protocol. Getting your first NFL start at quarterback on the road against a tough defense isn’t ideal, but it is even tougher when Christian Darrisaw and Donovan Jackson are out with injuries. During the course of the game they also lost center Ryan Kelly with a hip injury.

The Vikings did not run or pass the ball effectively on offense. Brosmer struggled to connect with Justin Jefferson (2 recs, 4 yards). He had more success with Jordan Addison (5 recs, 36 yards) and TJ Hockenson (6 recs, 59 yards). Aaron Jones had a mere 3 yards on 6 rushing attempts, leaving the game with a shoulder injury. Jordan Mason had 47 yards on 6 attempts.

Brosmer ended the day 19/30 for 126 yards and four back-breaking interceptions. Fans who thought that starting Brosmer in place of McCarthy would give the offense a spark were disappointed, watching the Vikings sink further into irrelevance this season.

As head coach, Kevin O'Connell bears the responsibility for his team's collapse.

Minnesota falls to 4-8 on the season and Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell took the blame for the embarrassing loss in his post-game remarks. But taking the blame is not going to fix an offense that looks completely broken, or refocus a team that seems to have tuned him out.
